Fishpost.com is a hobbyist oreinted site with a slant towards the conservation of cichlids. I also like to study and raise and african catfish. Most of the fish I keep are cichlids and catfish from Africa, but I do keep a rotation of fish from other areas going through my fishroom.
We are very concerned about the plight of cichlids around the world and the need to conserve their habitat. We strive to understand their behavior and needs while kept in captivity and hope this will somehow benefit the species in the wild. We currently sponsor a loose-knit association of concerned hobbyists, the Cichlid Conservation Working Group. We are not able to make a large contribution to the improvement of the wild habitat of these fish, so we are developing a focus effort to improve their understanding and identification. We will attempt to publish information and pictures of these endangered cichlids to this website in the hope it will help others in the hobby if they choose to keep some of these lesser understood species.
