Q- anyone have good ideas on something to use in the tank for my fish to hide in?
A- You can pick up 3 inch or 4 inch diameter drain pipes (around 10 feet long for around $6.00 at the Home Depot. They are white pvc plastic pipes that can be cut with a hatch saw or chop saw into 4 to 6 inch pieces. They make great hiding cave for the Cichlids and to lay eggs. They will not affect your ph and works out to be cheaper than using clay pots. Also you custom cut them to the size of your fish.
A- I use the black ABS plastic pieces (45, 60, and 90 curves) in various diameters for my fish. I think they prefer the dark colors also over the white.
Our Views
We use a variety of PVC pipe fittings in both white an dorange colors. We also have tanks with Coral Rock caves and slate too.
