Will accept any live freshwater fish used as a normal feeder fish, thawed frozen fish fillets, shrimp and other meat products.

General Information:

Serrasalmus Calmoni from Brazil, Guyana and Venezuela. This piranha was originally collected by Agasizzi in 1865 and then not again until almost 1987. With this wide sporadic distribution of collection locations and the time period of collection as well, this fish may deserve a very close examination in future studies.

The fish is not capable of being shoaled in most instances.

Breeding:

I have not been able to verify any claims to captive brreding of this species. No known instances of aquaria breeding.





Insights from keepers of this fish

This is not a difficult fish to keep. Best kept as a single specimen per tank.
